Worshiping and Growing
Authentic Worship
The worship of God is central to the life of our church. We encourage reverence and authenticity whenever we approach Almighty God. When this is achieved, we believe that we will find the “fullness of joy” in God’s presence (Psalm 16:11). As we come boldly to the throne of grace, we experience deep, spiritual growth; a growth that is sustained by the empowering work of the Holy Spirit and through our participation in the body of Christ. We invite you to come grow with us in worship, fellowship, and God’s word.
Come as You Are | God’s Grace Extends to Everyone
A typical worship service at Hazel Crest Community United Methodist Church will usually include an open welcome to everyone to participate in worship, scripture readings, silent meditation, an offering, sharing of joys and concerns, intercessory prayer, a children’s message, the sermon, special music by the choir, congregational singing, greeting each other (passing the peace), and a closing prayer.

Holy Communion
The United Methodist Church practices OPEN TABLE COMMUNION. This means that all are welcome to come to the table of grace regardless of your age, your past, or your faith tradition. This is the Lord’s table where we affirm the living presence of Christ and accept the grace of God. Jesus our Lord invites to his table all who earnestly repent of their sins and seek to live in peace with others. We come to the table seeking God’s grace and remembering the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Children and the mentally challenged are especially welcome to join with the congregation in receiving the bread and the juice. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.
There will be some differences in the services from time to time. Some services might take a more formal, traditional style, while others may have a more casual or contemporary feel. Whatever might be the case, we believe that worship must be “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24).
